Soft light, festive atmosphere
A lantern sits around the bulb and filters the light in all directions. Instead of a single point of light, you get a soft, glowing globe: exactly what you want for a garden party, wedding or summer evening. Lanterns instantly turn an ordinary festoon cable into something special, even during the day when the bulbs are switched off.
Lantern or light shade?
Both make your festoon cable more decorative, but the effect is different. A lantern sits around the bulb and spreads the light softly in all directions, creating a more atmospheric look. A festoon light shade sits above the bulb and directs the light downwards, making it more functional and giving you more light above your table. If atmosphere is your main priority, a lantern is the natural choice.
Which bulb goes in it?
Because the lantern filters the light anyway, there is no need to choose a decorative filament bulb: you will not see the filament effect. The 0.7W bulbs with a transparent shade work particularly well with our white lanterns. Choose warm white light for a cosy glow; 2200K gives a candlelight-like effect.
Good to know
The lanterns are weatherproof, so you can use them outdoors all year round. They are available in two sizes: Ø25 cm and Ø35 cm. When screwing in the bulb, check that the sealing ring sits properly around it. You can also take a look at our other festoon lighting parts.
