Light on the table
A festoon cable or façade lamp lights your patio from above, but the table itself can often remain dim: you can see your plate, but the atmosphere is missing. A table lamp brings the light down to table height, exactly where you sit. It can make the difference between a patio that is simply lit and one where you want to sit and stay a while. What's more, you can move it indoors just as easily.
The different power options
Rechargeable table lamps are cordless and come with USB charging and a touch dimmer. A solar table lamp charges itself in the sun. Mains-powered models provide continuous light, but they do need a connection.
Which one suits you?
Rechargeable is the most popular option: you have the freedom of no cables, but you decide when to charge, so you are not dependent on the sun. Solar is even easier, but how long the lamp stays on depends on how much sunlight the panel receives during the day. Mains power is the most powerful option, but you do need a connection on your patio and there is a cable.
Pay attention to the protection rating
Some of our table lamps are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use thanks to their IP44 rating. Always check the stated protection rating in the product details: not every model is intended for outdoor use. Do not leave a lamp outdoors in severe weather, even if it can withstand a shower.
Setting the atmosphere
Many models are dimmable via a touch dimmer, and some have an adjustable colour temperature, for example between 2100K, 2500K and 2800K, from candlelight-like to warm white. That way, you can decide whether you want enough light to read or simply want to create a cosy atmosphere. With rechargeable and solar models, the LED is already built in.
