The OTG-DD-4 emergency light is a popular choice among installers and security companies. It features 41 LEDs and a test button to check the battery. The supplied legends can be applied to suit your escape route. Both the housing and diffuser are made from high-quality plastic.
Fitting the legends
The legends are self-adhesive. To fit one, wet the cover of the emergency light with soapy water. Position the legend and smooth out any air bubbles. This also makes it easy to change the legend when needed.
Need legends for other escape routes? You can order a separate set of eight legends.
The LED emergency lighting can be mounted above doors and windows and on walls. You can work with a specialist to determine how many emergency lights you need and where best to install them. Circles are marked on the back and all four sides of the light, showing where you can drill holes. Once you have drilled a hole, connect the wiring to the terminal block on the circuit board. This connects the light to the mains (230V). To protect the hole against water damage, fit a PG9 cable gland and run the wiring through it. This helps prevent water from entering the light and stops the cable from coming loose from the terminal block. Mounting frames are available separately if you want to recess the light neatly into the ceiling or wall.
The emergency light can be set to maintained (always on) or non-maintained (on only when needed). When set to maintained, the light stays on even when there's no power cut. When set to non-maintained, the light only comes on when the mains power fails, then runs on its battery for three hours. Three hours is generally enough time for staff and visitors to leave a building, and it meets the legal requirement.
