More than decoration
A light shade above the bulb does more than just add a decorative touch. It gives your festoon cable the familiar look you see on patios and at beach bars, while directing the light downwards. This helps reduce glare when you are sitting underneath the cable and concentrates the light where you need it, for example above your table.
Ordering separate light shades
If you already have a festoon cable and want to give it a different look, you can simply order the light shades separately. It is an easy and affordable way to refresh your patio without buying a new cable. It is also handy if you only want to use a few, for example above the table rather than along the entire cable. Looking for a complete solution? Then take a look at our festoon lighting sets with shades.
Which style do you choose?
You will find light shades in various styles, from sleek metal to a warm rattan look. A dark rattan look suits a natural or bohemian patio, while a metal shade gives a more industrial or hospitality-style look. The shades are made from polycarbonate, making them almost unbreakable and suitable for outdoor use.
Light shade or lantern?
A light shade directs the light downwards, making it the more functional choice. A lantern sits around the bulb and spreads the light softly in all directions. A light shade works well above a dining table, while a lantern creates more atmospheric lighting for a party. Always check that the light shade is suitable for the type of bulb you are using. Our pear-shaped LED bulbs fit the shades best. Because the opening is relatively narrow, round bulbs do not fit all shades, so choose pear-shaped LED bulbs.
