What is a surface-mounted spotlight?

With surface-mounted spotlights, the fitting remains visible rather than being concealed in the ceiling. They are more prominent than recessed spotlights, making them a good choice if you want the spotlight to be part of the overall look. Choose from black and white models, including sleek modern designs and more industrial styles.

When do you choose surface-mounted spotlights?

Surface-mounted spotlights are particularly useful when recessed installation isn’t possible or you don’t want to cut into the ceiling. They work well with concrete ceilings, ceilings with limited space above them or in rented homes where you want to avoid permanent alterations. They are also a good choice when you want the fitting itself to be visible.

Tiltable and multi-light

Many surface-mounted spotlights can be tilted or rotated, allowing you to direct the light towards a worktop, painting or bookcase. Alongside single spotlights, you’ll find multi-light models with two or three adjustable spotlights on one ceiling plate. These allow you to light several areas from a single connection point, which is particularly useful if you only have one junction box. You’ll also find these models among our ceiling spotlights.

Which bulb do you choose?

Most surface-mounted spotlights have a GU10 bulb fitting, while larger models may use AR111 bulbs. Some models have integrated LED, so there is no bulb to choose or replace. Choose a narrow beam angle to highlight a specific area, or a wide beam angle for general lighting. For living rooms and bedrooms, warm white light creates a warmer atmosphere, while cool white works well in kitchens and workspaces.
