What are natural pendant lights?
Natural pendant lights are made from materials found in nature: wood, bamboo, rattan, woven rope and paper. These materials instantly bring a sense of comfort and homeliness. They filter the light gently, giving you a warm, soft glow rather than harsh brightness. With open, woven shades, the light also spills through in beautiful patterns across the wall and ceiling. This makes a pendant light more than just a light source; it becomes part of your interior.
Wood, bamboo, rattan and rope
Each natural material has its own character. Wood is usually light in colour and gives a warm, timeless base, though darker tones and walnut effects feature too. Bamboo gives a soft, airy look, especially with hand-woven shades. Rattan and woven rope bring texture and a bohemian touch, while woven paper creates playful, organic shapes. If you'd prefer natural stone to wood, take a look at our pendant lights in travertine, or pair one with a soft fabric shade.
Which interior style do they suit?
Natural pendant lights suit interiors where simplicity and natural elements take centre stage. They sit beautifully in a Japandi interior with its calm shapes and serene look, in a light, airy Scandinavian interior, and in a bohemian interior full of playful texture. They bring balance to a natural or minimalist interior too. And because wood and bamboo work well with calm colours like white, grey and black, you don't need a fully natural interior to make one work; in an industrial setting, it often gives a striking effect.
Where do you hang a natural pendant light?
Above the dining table, a natural pendant light gives a warm glow that invites you to linger; hang it 80 to 100 cm above the tabletop. In the living room, a large woven shade works as a soft statement piece, while in the bedroom or reading corner, the filtered light brings a sense of calm. In the hallway or on the landing, a wooden or rattan light gives a warm welcome.
Which light source suits a natural pendant light?
Almost all of our natural pendant lights are fitted with an E27 lampholder. Choose warm white light (around 2700K) for the soft atmosphere that suits these materials. If the shade is open or woven, a decorative filament bulb looks especially striking. With smaller shades, check the size of the bulb: sometimes a Ø45 mm bulb fits where a Ø60 mm one won't. The exact bulb fitting and size you need are always listed in the product details.
